Cookie Policy

1. Introduction

This Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (web beacons, pixels, local-storage objects) we use on the rundownevents.com web Platform, and the analogous device-storage mechanisms (secure key-value storage, AsyncStorage, file caches) we use in the Rundown mobile App.

It forms part of, and should be read together with, the Rundown Privacy Policy.

By using the web Platform you consent to our use of cookies as described below, except where we tell you that a particular cookie is set only with your specific consent. By using the mobile App you consent to our use of device-storage mechanisms as described below.

2. What is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, improve how they work, and provide information to the website's owner.

In this Policy we use "cookie" to mean any cookie or similar technology (including web beacons, pixels, and HTML5 local storage). For the mobile App, we use the term "device storage" to describe the analogous mechanisms.

3. Categories of Cookies and Device Storage

We group our cookies and device storage into four categories. Strictly necessary cookies are always set; the others are set only where applicable consent has been given.

3.1 Strictly necessary

These keep the Platform working: signing you in, remembering your session, keeping your shopping cart between pages, routing your purchase through Stripe, and protecting against fraud and abuse.

Examples on the web Platform:

• Firebase Auth session cookie — keeps you signed in.
• CSRF token — protects checkout from cross-site forgery.
• Stripe `__stripe_mid` / `__stripe_sid` — Stripe's fraud-prevention identifiers, set when the payment form is loaded.

Examples in the mobile App:

• `expo-secure-store` keychain entries — store the Firebase Auth token.
• AsyncStorage entries — store your event-feed cache and saved-event list for offline use.

You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies. Without them the Platform will not work.

3.2 Functional

These remember choices you make to give you a more personalised experience: your language preference, currency preference (KYD or USD), recent searches, and which events you have already viewed.

Examples:

• Currency preference cookie.
• Recent-search list in App device storage.
• "Don't show this again" tip-dismissal flags.

You can disable functional cookies via your browser settings or your device's privacy settings, but parts of the Platform may stop remembering your preferences.

3.3 Performance and analytics

These help us understand how the Platform is used so we can make it better. We use Firebase Analytics (a Google product) to count visits, identify popular events, measure load times, and detect crashes.

We do not use these cookies to identify you personally. The information is aggregated and used to improve the Platform.

• Firebase Analytics — sets `_ga` and `_gid` cookies on the web Platform, and uses anonymous installation identifiers in the mobile App.
• Crash reporting — collects anonymised diagnostic information when the App crashes.

You can disable performance cookies by declining them in the cookie banner, by adjusting your browser's "Do Not Track" setting, or by opting out of "Allow Apps to Request to Track" (iOS) or "Analytics & Improvements" (Android) at the operating-system level on your device.

3.4 Targeting and marketing

These would be used to show you advertising tailored to your interests. Rundown does not currently use any targeting or marketing cookies. If we add them in future, we will update this Policy and ask for your consent through the cookie banner before setting them.

4. Third-Party Cookies and Device Storage

We work with a small number of third parties to operate the Platform. Each one may set its own cookies or device-storage entries; these are governed by the third party's own cookie or privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party. The third parties listed above act either as our processors (under contract to us) or as separate controllers in respect of services you have specifically requested (for example, Stripe acts as a controller in respect of your payment).

5. Managing Your Preferences

5.1 Web Platform

The first time you visit rundownevents.com you will see a cookie banner. You can:

• Accept all — sets strictly necessary, functional, and performance cookies.
• Reject non-essential — sets only strictly necessary cookies.
• Manage preferences — choose each category individually.

You can change your preferences at any time via the "Cookie Preferences" link in the website footer.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies for specific sites. Doing so may break parts of the Platform.

5.2 Mobile App

The mobile App uses device-storage mechanisms equivalent to cookies. You can manage these through:

• Your operating system's tracking-and-analytics settings (iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android Settings → Privacy → Ads).
• The App's notification settings (Profile → Notification Settings) to opt out of marketing messages.
• Uninstalling the App, which removes all locally stored data from your device.

6. Cookies in Email

Our transactional emails (ticket confirmations, transfer notifications, refund alerts) may contain a small tracking pixel that tells us whether the email was opened. We use this to measure delivery quality, not for marketing. You can disable email image loading in your email client to prevent the pixel from loading.

7. Retention

Strictly necessary cookies generally last for the duration of your session, or up to 30 days for "remember me" sign-in cookies. Functional cookies generally last 6–12 months. Performance cookies generally last up to 24 months, after which they expire and a new identifier is issued. Device-storage entries in the mobile App last until you sign out, uninstall the App, or clear App data via your operating system.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is always available in the Rundown App at Profile → Cookie Policy and on rundownevents.com at the "Cookies" link in the footer. Where a change materially expands the categories of cookies we use, we will surface the change in the cookie banner or via an in-App notice.
